Jeewon
Kim (pseudonym) / 8 years old / acute lymphocytic leukemia
(Jeewon (pseudonym)'s wish came true using the money
donated to the EDM anniversary V2.2 donation box.)
* Acute
lymphocytic leukemia: This is a hematologic malignancy
that occurs in lymphoid cells in the blood and bone marrow and occurs when
lymphoid leukocytes proliferate more than necessary in an immature state and
suppress normal hematopoietic function. It is usually defined as lymphocytic
leukemia when lymphocytes account for more than 20% of bone marrow or
peripheral blood, which occurs mainly in children.
Around the age of five when she had a
monopoly on care and love from her mother and father, she visited a local
pediatrician because she had a slight fever and rashes, but was diagnosed with
leukemia. After that day, Jeewon's family's long hospital life began. She had
to receive chemotherapy for three years, which is difficult even for adults to
endure, fortunately, completed her treatment, and became healthy again when she
was eight years old.
Jeewon lived a life cut off from society
due to her lengthy treatment. She was a lovely and shy child who welcomed
people who approached her slowly. After finishing her treatment, while she was
getting ready to return to her normal life, we met Jeewon.
Jeewon gave a tender smile to the unfamiliar
volunteers on the screen. She liked lace and pink, and wanted to try hair
ornaments, makeup, etc. Like any elementary school student, she was interested
in slime and the Shinbi House.
“I want a princess room full of pink!”
When asked what her wish was, Jeewon did not hesitate to choose a pink room. Jeewon
wanted to have a room like this when she saw the main characters in animations.
Thanks to smart Jeewon, who knew how to express her opinion clearly, we were
able to decorate her room without difficulty. We gave her a light pink desk and
a curtain with white lace. The floor had a cute rabbit and a pink duvet.
Volunteers' hands started getting busy preparing to fulfill Jeewon's wish come
true.
“It has become a real princess room!”
On a warm sunny day, Jeewon's Wish Day was
held. Volunteers had added a bed and a desk suitable for Jeewon’s room in
advance, and then hung a banner on the side of the bed. We had sent an
ornamental cake, a bouquet, dolls, school supplies, a stand, and mood lamp that
Jeewon would like by courier in advance so that she could unbox them together
on Wish Day. After her Wish Day, we also pre-ordered chicken and desserts for
her family.
Jeewon first saw her new room’s look on her
Wish Day. We saw her coming into the room blindfolded with her family, opening
the gifts prepared by the volunteers, and playing in bed. We had time to open
the gift and read the certificate prepared for Jeewon and her family. When
Jeewon arrived at her princess room, she looked like another lovely princess.
We would like to sincerely thank all the
sponsors who have been with us to make Jeewon's wish come true. Thanks to this,
Jeewon has her room, unique in the world. Please support Jeewon so that she can
grow both physically and mentally in her own space!

Yerin Choi’s comment.
Through Wish Day, I was happy to come to know this
activity where Wish Kids make their wishes come true and receive gifts. It was
a really rewarding experience. I have worked as a Wish Angel for about 8
months, long if long and short if short. From the first meeting with each Wish
Kid to their Wish Day, I help volunteers prepare and make kids’ wishes come
true. It was a very proud and meaningful time.
Volunteer
Sujin Yoo’s comment.
I was happy to see Jeewon happy while meeting her for the first time and
hosting her Wish Day. It was fun to talk to Jeewon every time we met to get to
know her and decorate her room for Wish Day based on her personality. On Wish
Day, I was so proud and happy to give Jeewon what she wanted and make her wish
come true with her parents. I felt sorry that we couldn't meet her
face-to-face, but I am happy that Jeewon got to fulfill her wish, even like
this.
Wish
Kid’s parents’ comment.
I felt that they talked a lot with Jeewon when I saw the dolls and mood lamp
that Jeewon had wanted as gifts from the volunteers. In addition, they helped
us specify what she wanted to do or dream every hour, and it was nice to know
more precisely what Jeewon wanted to do. Thank you so much for giving Jeewon
various gifts that she liked and wishing her good health. The video conference
for Wish Day and Wish Day have become unforgettable moments for my family.
Thanks again to the volunteers.
